Students in Mrs. Jodi DeLong’s fourth grade classroom at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School had the opportunity to learn about various animals from juniors and seniors in Ms. Chelsea Geist’s Environmental Science class at Canon-McMillan High School.
Mrs. DeLong’s daughter is a student at @canon_mac_schools, and during that school’s annual Open House, the teachers collaborated on ways each classroom could benefit from Canon Mac’s “Zoo in the Classroom” Unit.
Geist’s high school students studied various animals and presented their findings to DeLong‘s young students at Lincoln.
The fourth graders then posed follow-up questions to the presenters to learn more about their respective species. DeLong believes the experience will serve her students well in understanding how animals communicate during her class’ Life Science unit later in the school year.
